Sixth seed Milos Raonic spent Wednesday touring around Asakusa, a district in Tokyo known for its temples and geishas.
Among Raonic’s activities included a rickshaw ride, a stroll through a popular street market and window shopping, where the Canadian tried on a Happi, a traditional Japanese coat, and was shown a collection of Samurai swords.
"It was a great experience to go out today and explore the culture of Tokyo,” Raonic told RakutenOpen.com. “Getting a lesson with real Samurai swords and the rickshaw ride was a fun opportunity, and I'm excited to try to extend my stay in Tokyo tomorrow.”
The World No. 15 will take on Viktor Troicki in the second round of the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships. Raonic won their only previous meeting earlier this season on home soil at the Rogers Cup in Toronto.
